Villa Wolf - Pinot Gris - Pfalz

Overview: In the northern Pfalz, in Wachenheim, on the edge of the Mittelhaardt, you will find our traditional winery, whose roots go back deep into the history of Palatinate viticulture. When Ernst Loosen took over the winery in 1996, it already had an eventful, almost 250-year history behind it. But it was the prospect of producing great, dry wines that attracted him to the Pfalz region. We believe that Villa Wolf offers the best conditions for this. The famous sites in Forst and Wachenheim produce wines with exceptional elegance and minerality.

Locally, Pinot Gris is known as 'Grauburgunder' or 'Ruländer', and the Villa Wolf Pinot Gris is made up of fruit from the Pfalz region, which is celebrated as a warmer and dryer region. The fruit is harvested once optimal ripeness is reached, and fermentation occurs in a combination of stainless steel, large neutral oak casks, and concrete tanks. The winemaking team works hard to avoid malolactic fermentation to maintain acidity. The wine sees light filtration before bottling but is unfined. 

Tasting Notes: Grapefruit, pear and pineapple notes gain power from nose to finish in this fresh, fruity white. Dry and medium-bodied in style, it's a thirst-quenching, delicately saline sip with an easy yet elegant appeal.
